This is the fifth blog post in a series of on location sessions with dogs all over Austin as part of the Tails of the World book project.
Meet Daisy!
Daisy may very well be the grande dame of chihuahuas here in Austin, and while she is somewhat blind and somewhat deaf, those limitations don't seem to bother her. The first stop on our tour of The Domain was to pose next to a fire hydrant (for scale!) in front of the Louis Vuitton store. Of course Daisy was sporting a yellow polo shirt for her adventure which helps to connect the storefront's display to our subject in this image. How apropros!
Hydrant for scale next to little miss Daisy!
We wandered down the sidewalk until we reached an area where there are live oaks lit with very pretty yellow lights. No wonder Daisy's mom chose this particular shirt for today! Since Daisy is an older lady, we kept her leash on for safety.
We kept moving on, always on the lookout for spots for some photo ops. I love the color combination of yellow and blue, so we played in a doorway and on some lounge chairs in a nearby grove.
On to the next store!
Daisy ponders if the grass is greener . . . or if the green chair is more comfortable.
We continued on until we found some shade and took another break.
It was time for a closeup, and Daisy was happy to oblige.
We found some interesting steps to play on, always keeping Daisy's safety in mind by keeping her leash on and keeping her mom very close.
Daisy was getting tired, so we made a final stop near a patch of purple flowers.
See ya later, Daisy!
Stay tuned for our next blog post about this project!
We'll be visiting one of the best vistas in Austin with two much larger dogs than Daisy.
The 2025 edition of Tails of the World will be available for purchase on November 1, 2025. The proceeds from the book sales will go to the Geelong Animal Welfare Society in Australia.
